Get Over Yourself!

1/18/2012

Hey Ladies!  I am so very excited to see what God has in store as we read "Get Over Yourself" together!  I KNOW that God has ordained our steps and is wanting to speak directly to our hearts, minds, and spirits!  As we read , I want us to be honest with ourself and each other.  Let's have open and thought provoking conversation with one another!  Come back often to share, and to see what other women are learning!  This will help lead us up to our final conversation about the book when we get together in February!

Here are some thoughts I have as we begin TRANSFORMED!

TRANSFORMATION only comes if #1. You WANT it! #2. You are YIELDED to the PROCESS no matter how difficult the challenge and hard the sacrifices become.... so count the cost!! #3. If you are WILLING to ADMIT you NEED CHANGE! #4. When you realize that conformity to this world, it's ways, it's principles, it's morals (or lack thereof) etc etc etc..... is really rebellion against God and all that He stands for.   And... #5. You are determined that it's GOD'S WAY OR NO WAY!

A mind renewed is a life free, changed, transformed, and full of love, joy, and peace! Let the transformation begin!!! (Romans 12:2)

I can't put this down! There are times when I see an old me and then residues of that person that sill exist at times. Best quote so far is "Whoever asked you to feel? You were chosen to be a princess. Now go wash your face, get a new attitude, go put your clothes on, and go be Cinderella!" WOW, what a statement!!!

Ladies! As we begin our discussion I just want to remind you: (1) If you enter your email address (it will not be published) but you should get info when comments are made sent to your inbox! That way you know when someone adds to the discussion! (2) I believe God is calling us to a place of honesty, accountability, and even vulnerability. Not necessarily a comfortable place huh? I also believe that God is calling each of us out of isolation! Meaning.... we need each other! It is sooo easy to live life isolated! I believe the enemy likes it that way! I pray this discussion is a place where friendships are made, and strengthened... where encouragement is our focus, and where the Truths of God's Word, shared with one another, will renew our minds and bring about the transforming power of our God!
Much Love to you ALL!

I love the quote by Disney: "You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you!" I think sometimes, we try so desperately to "save feelings", or to keep from "offending" that we have a hard time speaking the hard truths into the lives of others! In fact, our silence can be a stamp of approval! It reminds me of Proverbs 27:6 "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." Like Tommy spoke so directly to Jennifer... sometimes the firm truth is needed! I do not know if Tommy was a believer, but God, obviously, used his "instructions of great Biblical truth" to impact Jennifer's life! And, now, she impacts others! I don't necessarily like a "kick in the teeth", but I thank God for friendships and the accountability of those who have spoken into my life... even if it hurt! DO YOU HAVE SOMEONE LIKE THIS IN YOUR LIFE?? And, WHY ARE TRUE RELATIONSHIPS of ACCOUNTABILITY SO DIFFICULT?

Whoever asked you to feel? SO IMPORTANT! How many times a day do you use the word "feel" in your vocabulary?? "I don't feel like...." "What I feel like doing is...." "I feel like...." If the enemy can keep us here, then we can't move forward in faith! This is NOT a feeling walk... it is a faith walk! Let's move past our feelings ladies! Wow! What a journey we are on!

I'M AT THE PART OF THE BOOK SHOWING US HOW WE ALLOW THE DEVIL ACCESS TO OUR WILL WHICH IS HIS PRIMARY GOAL. THROUGH OUR FEELINGS! I MUST CONFESS THIS JOURNEY SEEMS LIKE MORE WORK THAN I THOUGHT. It is not part of our normal makeup to deny our "feelings". Thanks Eve. It truly is having to transform our minds to protect ourselves from evil.

So true Tamra! This is going to be an AMAZING journey! This year will be an AMAZING journey! We will look back and say... "Wow! I've been transformed from WHAT I was and WHERE I was a year ago!" We will be grateful we were committed, and disciplined, to take on these "book" challenges... tackled the hard issues and LISTENED as God spoke to us! I can't wait to hear the testimonies that lie ahead!

THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT! Philipians 4:8 instructs us on how we should THINK! Do you find yourself commenting negatively, or positively, about the circumstances in your life? Luke 6:45 tells us that whatever is IN our heart is what comes out of our mouth! So... if it's negative in nature then that is what our soul is "thinking about". GOD TRANSFORM OUR THINKING! RENEW OUR MINDS! Fill us with FAITH, even when our circumstances are not desirable! Help us to think on those things that will bring LIFE to our speech... for we know that Death and Life are in the power of our tounge! (Prov. 18:21) Father, CHANGE our thinking, thus changing our speech, and cause it birth LIFE in and around us! So... how's your speech? What are YOU thinking about?

Ok. Let me see if I can comment in a coherent manner. Was feeling hopeful until I got to the last part. Mind you, I have not done the exercise yet because as I read the questions I had the feeling of having to conquer a mountain. I was overwhelmed! All these years I have spent trying to conceal and cover up these feeling I have about myself , and now to have to place them flatly on paper. Would I ever be able to conquer the mountain of my self esteem problems that took me nearly 20 yrs to obtain and the next 20 yrs to learn to conceal behind my mask. I'm not sure. That devil can has his way with me, but after my small meltdown was finished, I heard this voice inside telling me not to look at the entire mountain, just put one foot in front of the other and the path will be easy to follow. I just know that It will not be instantaneous. But however long it takes the journey will be worth it.

well, you know you will gain more with babysteps then with giant leaps. I work everyday on dealing with my past. The mistakes I have made, even after I knew by spirit it was wrong. The days I go to church and feel less then worth of his love. But I have to stand on the fact I am saved by grace. I am publicly say that I am my own worst enemy and the devil uses that to break me down.

Ladies I pray you are all being so blessed and transformed from this book. The next chapter, chapter 3 was one of the most life changing moments of my life. For so many years I never thought I was good enough. I think alot of women face this in there lifes.

Tommy's words here that really hit hard was... " Everything you need to be what you were called to be is that box. If it's not in there, you don't need it." I think so many times we want what we don't have, and don't see what God has already blessed us with!

I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well. Psalm 139:14

Everything we need in our lives God has already placed inside of us.

This may be a part of the book where you will need someone to just listen, hand you tissues or just sit and pray. I've been through this process as I'm sure many of us have and it's can be hard but getting to the place where we are truly FREE in Christ is amazing and much worth any pain you may go through to get there. I see chains falling and women of God Rising UP in Jesus Name...AMEN

Oh My goodness. I finally caught up with everyone else. I should have been warned about chapter 4. Everybody has a past. Thought I had dealt with mine... Thought... I had done all the crying, all the regrets- The Lord is so good to reveal what needs to be dealt with. I am so grateful for my Savior and his ability to trully transform and complete his work in me.

Well finished the book and have been going back through the areas that I highlighted and notes. Once again God through His Holy Spirit is revealing more. Each time is deeper and more intimate and I allow myself to forgive and heal. Just when "I" think that it's all ok the Holy Spirit reveals even more through Gods Word. I am a work in progress, a cracked pot being mended DAILY with the Love of God through Christ Jesus.
