DANIEL FAST 2023

PLUG INTO THE POWER OF PRAYER AND FASTING

Daniel Fast 2018          1/15/28-1/24-18

1/7/2018

It's that time!  Once again we will journey, as a church, through 10 days of intentional prayer and fasting! It's time to put our faith into action and bring the fight to our knees in intercession... together!  What will you believe God for?  What expectations are you bringing to the spiritual table?  Let's get real!  Expect to be challenged! Don't expect an "easy" time!  Expect a battle!   Expect to wage war with your flesh as you deny it!  However, you can also expect your Spirit man to rise up!  You can expect victories!  You can expect transformation and inspiration!  As we crucify our flesh and surrender to the Spirit of God, we can expect healing and miracles, deliverance, freedom from bondage, breakthrough in every realm, a deeper depth of spiritual growth and testimonies of answered prayer!  Keep in mind, that fasting without prayer, is nothing more than a diet!  When your flesh screams…. let it be a reminder to hunger for GOD, His will, His plan, His desires... and run to your prayer closet!  Fight the good fight and stay the course!  Be intentional about praying and spending time in the Word.  Then listen for His voice!  Be still and know He is God!  Be astoundingly aware of His presence!  May your spiritual eyes be open and your heart ready to recieve as you join us on this journey!  Please utilize this blog to share thoughts, prayers, prayer requests, scripture and encouragement as God speaks to you.  Share your personal struggles and triumphs!   As we take this journey together, great and mighty things are in store!   We are praying for YOU!

Hey Everyone! I'm going to be posting a few links to help make your Daniel Fast more successful! Unfortunately, there are not a great variety of organically grown fruits and veggies readily available in Putnam County, not too mention they are more expensive than what is most common in our grocery stores. Also unfortunate, is the fact that pesticides are used and consumed if not properly washed etc. Here is a link that discusses white vinegar to remove traces of pesticides! http://www.healthyandnaturalworld.com/easily-remove-pesticides-fruits-vegetables/

I'll post some recipes this evening. I wanted to let you know about some products that can make meal prep easier.

Uncle Sam Cereal: It's all natural (Rolled Whole Wheat, Flax Seeds, Salt, Barley Malt). I love to warm up unsweetened chunky applesauce, add cinnamon, too with the cereal. Quick easy breakfast.

Great Value Organic Vegetable Broth (Walmart): Tastes Great, Easy, and only $1.68 per Quart. I made a big pot of Veggie Soup last night. It tastes really good, very hearty and satisfying, and It cost like $12 to make and gave me 12 2 cup servings (recipe will be posted tonight).

Naked Very Veggie Juice Smoothie: I like most of the Naked juice blends. This is my fave. It tastes like Tart/Sweet berry juice. Its packed with nutrients and some protein, with out soy or a weird cereal taste. I personally can't drink this anymore because the Carbs are too high for me (I'm trying to get my blood sugars down). If you don't have blood sugar issues, It's a great meal on the go with some almonds on the side.

Totally forgot about Naked Juices! I used this in a berry cobbler last year! Thanks Helen for always contributing great ideas!!

Always a Favorite!

Whole Wheat Flatbread

1/2 Cup Water
1 1/2 Tablespoons Honey
1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour (plus extra for dusting)
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

Mix the Honey and Water together in a Microwave Safe Cup and heat 20 seconds at a time (stirring in between) until the honey is dissolved).

Let the water cool until it reaches a warm temperature.

Mix the Flour and Salt together in a bowl.

Add the Water and 1 Tablespoon of Oil and mix until dough forms.

Turn out onto a floured surface and need 2-3 minutes.

Form into a ball and place on a counter under a kitchen towel. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes.

Divide into 4 Pieces, Roll each piece into a ball, Flaten by hand, and then roll into 1/2 thick rounds.

Heat a Non stick griddle or skillet on high until Hot.

Lightly brush with Olive Oil (Very lightly or the bread will be oily).

Place bread in pan and watch. When the bread is puffy and bubbled (about 1 - 1/12 minuted) flip it and cook another minute.

Remove from the pan and enjoy.

Eat as is.
Topped with a little garlic and herd olive oil and salt or with just a light drizzle of honey.

Or Enjoy cut into pieces with Guacamole or Hummus.

I think this is what I used for a "pizza" dough. Is that possible?

When you use fresh ginger, use a spoon to peel it. And I like to grate it on the fine side of a cheese grater so there aren't big chunks.

Good morning! I'm excited about getting started today! Daniel 9:3 "So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting..." As we intentionally turn our attention to the Lord to seek Him and fast... I am confident we will all see a moving of God on our behalf! It's going to be a powerful time. Just remember.... as your flesh yearns for food let that be an reminder to yearn for God! As you hunger for "what to eat"... let that be a reminder to hunger for God! "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness... for they SHALL be filled!" Matthew 5:6 Allow the longings of your flesh to be transformed into longing for the presence of your God! THAT is when you will see results of your fast! Otherwise... you are just changing your eating habits for a bit. Pray! Seek His face! Listen to His voice! Spend time with Him, and in His word! Love you all! Believing for GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS! Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to me and I will answer you, and tell you great and mighty things you do not know!"

PS... If you struggle with reading your Bible, or would just like some targeted devotionals, may I suggest the youversion.com app! This will springboard your time in the word. You can search key words (maybe something you are asking God for... or something you struggle with and are believing for deliverance for etc...) and read daily devotionals targeted specifically for those things! Do a search of fasting! There is a wealth of devotionals for you to choose from! Hide His word in your heart while you fast! Dig in! Go deeper!

Anyone out there??? ;) Day 2! Praying for YOU! Here is a good, quick, breakfast. Warm chia seeds and fresh fruit! I tried it on the recommendation from Monica, and I prefer this over oatmeal, quinoa, grits etc... Put chia seeds in a bowl, add hot water and stir. Top with whatever fresh fruit you have. Read up on the benefits of chia and you will be AMAZED!

Sooooo..... I adapted a recipe for an Italian salad dressing that we ended up really liking!

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
1 to 2 cloves minced garlic (I used 2, but we love garlic)
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp Liquid aminos
1/2 tsp honey

Combine ingredients in blender (I used the nutribullet) and refrigerate. Toss and coat your favorite salad mix!

Hi y'all. I tried my hand at a few breads I figured I would share with y'all. They turned out very good!

Pumpkin Bread: 2 cups wheat flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp allspice, sprinkle of nutmeg, 1/2 cup oil, 3/4 cup honey, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 (15oz) can of pumpkin. Combine. Bake at 350 degrees for 35min or until cooked through.

Banana Bread: (used a recipe I found on here and added to it) 3 banana's smashed, 1 and 1/4 cup wheat flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/4 cup oil, 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp allspice, sprinkle of nutmeg. Combine. Bake at 350 degrees for 20min or until cooked through.

Powerful reminder! Praying that God will help us all keep the right perspective and turn our spiritual weapons toward the right enemy!

Ephesians 6:12-18 New Living Translation (NLT)

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Adapted from : https://www.ehow.com/how_2118017_olive-oil-garlic-pasta-dish.html
• 1/2 cup olive oil
• 5 cloves garlic
• 2 sprigs fresh rosemary (optional)
• salt and pepper to taste
• Daniel fast Cashew "cheese" (original recipe calls for Parmasean)

• While the pasta cooks, heat 1/4 cup of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Peel and mince the garlic. If you're using rosemary, hold the top of the sprigs with one hand. Pinch the fingers of your other hand around the stems and run them downward to remove the needles. Finely chop the needles.
• Add the garlic and rosemary to the oil. Let them fry for 60 seconds, or until they're fragrant but the garlic is still pale in color. If the pasta isn't yet ready, remove the pan from the heat.
• Use tongs to scoop the pasta out of the pot and into the skillet. The pasta will be slightly wet, which will help form a sauce.
• Stir the pasta into the olive oil. Add the remaining 1/4 cup of oil, then season the dish with a pinch each of salt and pepper over the dish. Take a taste: you may need to add more of one or both.
• Transfer the pasta to a large bowl. Sprinkle the cheese on top and serve hot.

I added sautéed mushrooms, roasted veggies (multi colored peppers and sugar snap peas and roasted carrots) and fresh cherry tomatoes to top it off.

I also mixed in parsley

Roasted Veggies

This will work with any veggies.

Combine Red, Yellow, Orange and Green peppers with sugar snap peas.

In a bowl, combine 3 tbls Olive Oil, 1 ¼ tsp of coarse sea salt, and ½ tsp freshly ground pepper, and about 3 cloves of minced garlic. (More if you like garlic!)

Place on baking sheet, 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.

Tammy

Oops... forgot that I sprinkled the veggies with dill weed before serving.

This is a guacamole recipe from Chipotle Restaurant! It is very good! And I don't particularly love guacamole. We at up the entire dip in one sitting!

THIS IS ALL YOU’LL NEED:
2 ripe Hass avocados (In the restaurant, we use 48 per batch, multiple times per day)
2 tsp lime juice
2 tbsp cilantro (chopped)
1/4 cup red onion (finely chopped)
1/2 jalapeño, including seeds (finely chopped)
1/4 tsp kosher salt

Mash and mix!

You must read Isaiah 58! My oh my! So many good nuggets on fasting... the good, the bad, and the ugly! The right way... the wrong way. What is acceptable before God, and what disappoints him. Victories and promises that await when fasting is done in the way he desires! Good Stuff! Make sure you find a version that you can easily read and understand. NIV

Tammy
1/25/2018 08:29:50 am

Well, this completes this years corporate Daniel Fast! I know God has revealed much to me... helped me to, once again, reprioritize some things in my life. I continue to believe for the miraculous! God is on the move!
